It is impossible for children to learn when they are hungry or sick. That's why, at Christel House Mexico, we give each child breakfast, lunch and a snack every day. This provides the equivalent of 80% of students' daily caloric needs. A nutritionist plans all meals to ensure they are well balanced, and that children’s vitamin and mineral needs are taken into account.
Regular health care includes annual physicals, dental exams, vision and hearing screenings, vaccinations according to World Health Organization standards and treatment for routine illnesses. Many of our students have experienced violence, neglect, abuse and bereavement, making them emotionally vulnerable and impacting their academic performance. Social workers and counselors help them cope with this emotional baggage. As a result of these interventions, Christel House children are happy, healthy and optimistic about their futures.
